But what about the ethical engines that drove us here? What does it mean to act ethically in kink, and who gets to decide? How do we distinguish ethics from morals, social expectations, and the law? What happens when doing what's permitted isn't necessarily the same as doing what's right? From the origins of Western ethical thought to contemporary BDSM culture, centuries of philosophical debate have shaped how we understand right and wrong. Join Sir Panda to connect the dots between these ethical frameworks and the norms and expectations within our kink communities, as well as the hard choices we face as kinksters every day. PRESENTER: Sir-Panda (he/him) is a polyamorous Dominant living in the Kansas City metro area. He has been a kink educator since he began teaching consent and BDSM basics at Seattle’s Center for Sex Positive Culture in 2011. He has taught for Fetish Con, Leather Reign, the Kink Center, Pragmatic Kink, Wicked Grounds, and the Venusian Society. He especially focuses on the mental and relationship aspects of kink and polyamory, drawing on over 30 years of experience and a passion for research. Sir Panda is a Certified Professional Life Coach, an Accredited Relationship Coach, a Mental Health First Aider, a consent advocate, and a member of the Social Psychology Network.
